Product Description
A pipe tee is a fundamental pipe fitting designed to split or combine fluid flow in piping systems, featuring three openings (inlet and two outlets, or two inlets and one outlet) that form a "T" shape. It plays a crucial role in branching pipelines, allowing fluid to be diverted to multiple paths or merged from different lines, while maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the entire system. Suitable for various industrial, commercial, and residential applications, it is one of the most widely used fittings in pipeline networks.
Pipe tees are categorized based on their structure and function, with two main types: straight tee and reducing tee. The straight tee has three openings of the same nominal diameter, used for splitting or merging fluid flow of the same size pipeline. The reducing tee features one main opening (larger diameter) and two branch openings (smaller diameter), ideal for connecting branch lines of different sizes to the main pipeline, which is more flexible in practical installation.
Common materials for pipe tees include carbon steel, stainless steel (304, 304L, 316, 316L), alloy steel, and non-metallic materials like PVC and HDPE. Stainless steel tees are preferred for corrosive, sanitary, or high-temperature environments (e.g., chemical, food & beverage industries), while carbon steel tees are cost-effective for general industrial and plumbing systems. All materials are selected based on fluid properties, pressure, and temperature requirements.
Connection methods of pipe tees match the connected pipelines: Butt Weld (BW) is widely used for large-diameter, high-pressure industrial pipelines, ensuring high structural strength and leak-proof performance; Threaded (NPT/BSP) is suitable for small-bore, low-to-medium pressure systems, enabling easy installation and disassembly; Flanged connection is ideal for pipelines requiring frequent inspection and maintenance, while Socket Weld (SW) is used for small-bore, high-pressure, space-constrained installations.
Key applications include oil & gas, chemical & pharmaceutical, water treatment, HVAC, municipal plumbing, and food & beverage industries. With excellent structural toughness, stable flow performance, and strong adaptability, the pipe tee is an essential component for branching or merging pipelines, ensuring efficient and safe operation of the entire piping system.
