Product Description
An eccentric reducer is a specialized pipe fitting designed to connect two pipe sections of different nominal diameters with an offset centerline. Unlike concentric reducers, its key feature is the misaligned center of the larger inlet and smaller outlet, usually equipped with a flat side to prevent fluid accumulation, air trapping, or solid deposition. It is widely used in industrial and commercial piping systems where horizontal installation and flow stability are critical.
The unique offset design of the eccentric reducer makes it ideal for horizontal pipelines, especially in scenarios conveying viscous fluids, steam, or fluids containing small solids. The flat side can be installed upward or downward according to actual needs: installing it upward avoids air pockets in gas or steam pipelines, while installing it downward prevents liquid stagnation in liquid transport systems, effectively reducing pipeline blockage and maintenance costs.
Common materials for eccentric reducers include carbon steel (A105, A234 WPB), stainless steel (304, 316), and alloy steel, selected based on the system’s pressure, temperature, and fluid properties. Carbon steel eccentric reducers are cost-effective and suitable for general industrial applications, while stainless steel ones are preferred for corrosive environments like chemical and food industries.
Connection methods of eccentric reducers match the connected pipes: Butt Weld (BW) is widely used for large-diameter and high-pressure industrial pipelines, ensuring high structural strength and leak-proof performance; Threaded (NPT/BSP) is suitable for small-bore, low-to-medium pressure systems, enabling easy installation and disassembly; Flanged connection is ideal for pipelines requiring frequent inspection and maintenance.
Key applications include oil & gas refineries, chemical plants, power stations, municipal drainage systems, and HVAC systems. It is also widely used in petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries where fluid purity and flow stability are required. With excellent structural toughness, easy installation, and strong adaptability, the eccentric reducer is an essential component for efficient and safe operation of piping systems with diameter transitions.
